A Memorial Message
We have dedicated 2015 to Bill Sharpsteen, our founder and friend of all greyhounds. Bill passed away last summer. We all knew that Bill was very sick but none of us recognized the full extent of his illness. His death prompted a quick re-organization of our group but not the mission. In Bill's memory we are going forward as one united group with three chapters in the state of Florida. We are very proud of how our group has recovered. The officers on the board are:

President: Judy Shamp

Vice-President: Chris Palmer

Treasurer: Donna Galante

We also want to acknowledge the continued service of the leaders in our other branches.

Clearwater: Chris Palmer

Greyhound Advancement Center and Sarasota branch: Joanne Wuelfing

Gainesville: Judy Murray and Ann Marie

Volunteers and Foster Homes
Gold Coast Greyhounds is composed of numerous foster homes and volunteers that make it possible to find good homes for waiting ex-racing greyhounds. We couldn't do this without our volunteers. We also work with adoption group partners in other states: Fast Friends Greyhound Adoptions, Pocono Greyhound Adoptions, First State Greyhound Adoption, Blue Ridge Greyhound Adoption and Philadelphia Greyhound Adoption. We depend on our local foundations that support our hauls, namely the Sebastian Haul Foundation. We simply cannot place the number of available dogs locally to help enough dogs find homes without their monetary assistance to pay for hauls. Please call Judy Shamp at 407-797-6380 if you would like to help in 2015.

Fundraisers and Events

Our meet and greets involve going to local community events such as the Doggie Art Festival and Rescue Fest sponsored by Pookie’s Bow Wow Bakery and Pet Nutrition. We also show the dogs at Sanford-Orlando Kennel Club who also support our adoption efforts with regular donations. Many of our dogs come from Daytona Beach Greyhound Pets of America. Our relationship with Daytona has evolved into a mutual give and take as we help some of their medical and behavioral challenges and move these dogs into foster homes and eventually into a permanent home.

One last request: as you look at your charitable donations for 2016, remember Gold Coast. As a 501c3 non-profit we rely heavily on your support and donations. If you are looking for a way to help these deserving retired racers, scroll up to the "Make a Donation" button on the right to donate via Pay Pal or mail a check to Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions, Inc. 2426 Euston Road, Winter Park, FL 32789. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your support; we look forward to hearing from you!
